Commissioner Diannitto's career with the City started with the Fire Department in 1954.He retired as Assistant Fire Chief in 1997 with 43 years of service.He served as President of UFLAC Local 112 from 1992 to 2002.Additionally, he served on the Boards of the International Association of Fire Fighters (IAFF), the Los Angeles Retired Fire and Police Association (LARFPA), and the National Conference on Public Employee Retirement Systems (NCPERS). Buzzell will fill the vacancy created by former Commissioner Sam Diannitto, who retired from the Board after 42 years of unwavering service to our members.
The focus of the training will be on active listening skills, suicide awareness and prevention, crisis intervention, referrals to local resources, and relationships with local behavioral health providers.To receive the certification, each participant will need to complete the full two days of training. Members may only defer a total of two years of VC days to the new calendar year.
